🎓 Beginner Progression Guide
Your step-by-step path from first spawn to first summit. Follow this guide to build skills progressively without rushing to your death.
Week 1: Foundation Skills
Step 1: Buy the Right Boots (Day 1)
Action: Spend 950 points on La Portivo 8000 Evo Boots.
Why: Without these, snow plains are a death trap. Slipping is the #1 beginner killer.
Note: You won't have enough points on day 1 — earn points by completing climbs, then buy boots first.
Step 2: Practice Movement (Day 1–2)
Action: Spend 10–15 minutes at Base Camp practicing controls.
Focus: WASD movement, sprint timing, ice axe clicking rhythm, Shift Lock camera.
Why: Bad habits formed early (like sprinting on snow) kill you later.
Step 3: Reach Camp 1 (First Attempt)
Goal: Reach Camp 1 for the First Step badge.
Rules: Walk on all snow plains. Never sprint. Refill oxygen at camp stations.
Success: Reaching Camp 1 is your first major milestone.
Week 2: Build to Camp 2
Step 4: Learn the Rope Sections
Goal: Reach Camp 2 three times successfully.
Focus: Rope climbing mechanics, stamina management on steep sections.
After Camp 2: You have learned the most dangerous parts of the climb.
Step 5: Buy Carbon Picks (Priority)
Action: Save for Carbon Picks (600 pts).
Effect: -25% stamina drain on vertical climbs — essential for Camp 3+.
Next: Buy Portable Heater (500 pts) for blizzard survival.
Week 3–4: Attempt the Summit
Step 6: Push Through the Death Zone
Goal: Reach Camp 3 and spend 5 minutes in the Death Zone.
Requirements: Full oxygen, full stamina, clear weather.
Key rule: Never leave Camp 3 with less than 40% oxygen if heading to Camp 4.
Step 7: Attempt Your First Summit
Requirements for Summit Attempt:
- ✅ La Portivo 8000 Evo Boots equipped
- ✅ Carbon Picks equipped
- ✅ Portable Heater in inventory
- ✅ Oxygen above 80%
- ✅ Stamina at 100%
- ✅ Weather is clear
- ✅ Clear 2+ hour window for climb
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Sprinting on snow plains: Instant death. Walk always.
- Buying gear in wrong order: Boots first — everything else is secondary.
- Rushing to summit: Do 5+ practice runs before attempting Camp 3+.
- Ignoring blizzard audio: Rising wind = whiteout in ~30 seconds. Seek shelter.
- Not refilling oxygen: Always top off at camps before departing.
🎮 Practice Before You Climb
Spend time at Base Camp before every run. The game doesn't have a tutorial — you learn by doing. Muscle memory for controls and blizzard responses saves lives.
