💨 Oxygen Calculator
Calculate how long your oxygen will last based on altitude, weather conditions, and tank type. Critical for planning climbs above Camp 3 (the Death Zone).
⚠️ Death Zone Rule
Above Camp 3, never leave with less than 40% oxygen when heading to the summit. If your tank hits 0% in the Death Zone, you have exactly 3 minutes to find a refill station or you die.
Understanding Oxygen Depletion
Oxygen depletion rate increases significantly with altitude. At sea level, a standard tank provides its full 12:30 of air. But as you climb higher, the air gets thinner and you breathe faster, draining your tank more quickly.
| Altitude Zone | Depletion Multiplier | Standard Tank Effective Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Base → Camp 1 | 1.0x | 12:30 (baseline) |
| Camp 1 → Camp 2 | 1.2x | ~10:25 |
| Camp 2 → Camp 3 | 1.5x | ~8:20 |
| Camp 3 → Summit (Death Zone) | 2.0x+ | ~6:15 or less |
💡 Pro Tip
Use the Camp-to-Camp Planner to pre-calculate oxygen needs for each segment of your climb. Plan your oxygen refills at each camp station to ensure you never run critically low.
