⚡ Stamina Calculator

Understand how different routes and actions drain your stamina. Learn to pace yourself and use micro-resting to conserve energy for critical sections.

Calculate Stamina Drain

Stamina Drain Reference

Action Relative Drain Can Regenerate?
Walking Low (1.0x) Yes — stand still
Sprinting High (2.0x) No
Jumping Medium (1.3x) No
Ice Climbing (no picks) High (1.8x) Only on ledges <45°
Ice Climbing (Carbon Picks) Reduced (1.35x) Only on ledges <45°
Rope Climbing High (1.6x) No

⚠️ Critical Rule

Never initiate a vertical climb with less than 70% stamina. If you trip during a climb, you fall. Falls from height on steep terrain are often fatal.

Micro-Resting Technique

The most important stamina skill is micro-resting on ledges: brief pauses on microscopic ledges under 45 degrees that allow stamina regeneration without stopping your climb.

Expert climbers use this technique to conserve stamina across entire vertical sections. Rather than stopping completely (which also pauses progress), you pause briefly on ledges while continuing to make upward progress. This is especially valuable on the Camp 2 → Camp 3 and Camp 3 → Camp 4 segments.
